Love and Labor

Love and Labor

These photographs are a time capsule, and I hope they continue to be so within our family for years to come. That is what this project is about. Archival.

Love and labor.

I wanted to go into the day without a specific objective, but rather to let my instinct guide what I photographed.

I see that as I look at this project. The shutter click, viewing the majority of this day through my film camera lens.

The spontaneity of the photographs is clear. You do not get to reshoot, nor can you spend any time framing the perfect shot. Each of these represents a moment shot with deliberation. An observed moment in time I felt would capture the love of the day. The family and friends who show up for you.

Clearly, the images are more focused on Sienna. My sister-in-law.

The bride is the focal point of a wedding. Those who surround her sometimes fade into the background. Sienna made those people known. In these images, you can see that support.

The community is a unit.

I felt that on this day.

How lucky am I to know and love Grayson and Sienna. And to be able to capture these fleeting moments. To build a collection that speaks to the foundation of the day.
